The first major writing task of this project will be to produce an overview presentation of my ‘take’ on academic confidence.
I have used Google Scholar as a first point search as I am confident that this will produce good results from across the academic information environment, and that these results will be from peer-reviewed sources that constitutes a high level of academic integrity.
In fact, by entering the search as a string: “academic behavioural confidence” this generated very specific results – there were 78 articles or documents revealed.
Now what I must tease out is this:
- why did Sanders et al shift from the phrase ‘academic confidence’ to ‘academic behavioural confidence’ (ABC)?
- what are the exact components of the Sanders ABC scale and can I use this as it is or should I consider modifying it to suit my purpose?
- phraseological synonyms for ‘academic confidence’ and ‘academic behavioural confidence’ and refresh the Google Scholar search using these fresh criterea;
- attempt to access the documents revealed by the search through the university’s e-Journals portal.
This is my immediate task and I anticipate that this will form the backbone of the presentation that I am scheduled to make to my supervisors on January 15th.
