  • 'I am a distance learning student doing a practice based MA in Education.  I monthly contact sessions for a big part of the course, which I found extremely valuable.  It helped me to make sense of the course instructions and helped me to organise my work, which I found most difficult. It also helped tremendously to see examples of the assignments, not so much for the contents but for the layout and organisation.  It helped me to organise my own thoughts.  My big problem is putting my thoughts on paper and sticking to the point.  I have the tendency to go of on a tangent or including too much detail.  I had to re-submit my research proposal 3 times before being accepted, and that just because I had too much detail in. It is difficult to think of structure and academic language at the same time.
    Understanding tutors and flexible learning makes a huge difference to me, but I have been using up all my 'grace' in handing in assignments on time.  I absolutely love studying, especially doing research, but writing it up is a bit more challenging.'
